It doesn't get any easier; you just get faster.
Teamwork produces greater results than an individual riding alone.
It's not the will to win that matters - everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters.
What you do today will determine what you do tomorrow.
People overestimate what they can do in the short term, but underestimate what they can do in the long term.
Quotes from Tour racers:
Any successful person in this world, whether it's in this sport or any other sport or in any aspect of life, they're successful because they aim for the gold; they don't aim at beating any other people, they aim for the gold.
--Mark Cavendish
Cycling is a very humbling sport, and if you don't think so just wait for tomorrow and you will be humbled.
--Christian Vande Velde
I really hate climbs cause they always hurt; maybe I'm good at them, but I do hate them.
--Frank Schleck
We divide up in groups depending on racing level, fitness, and goals, usually having two or three different groups.
For the cross country racing team, mandatory practices begin for the entire team in December, with all riders practicing two afternoons during the week and one morning on the weekend, with the days varying depending upon the stage of the season. The more competitive racers can be provided information for additional training.
During the high school off season individuals can ride for fun, enter other races individually, and many perform an optional off season training and cross-training program.
As with any team, riders are expected to have a good attitude, put in good effort, and attend practices unless excused. The team will check a rider's basic abilities, as a minimum level of fitness and ability is required to ride with the team (however, with some effort almost any rider can achieve this minimum level of fitness).
